Dulse
This ingredient can be found in: Pop A Purple

Dulse is an edible sea weed that has been proposed to have beneficial effects on human health. Scientifically known as Palmaria palmate, dulse was noted to have antioxidant and anti cancer properties in animal studies. In a laboratory study involving human cancer cells it was observed that dulse prevented the proliferation of abnormal cells in the cancerous cells obtained from the intestine and breast of individuals suffering from these cancers. The cancer protective effect of dulse was attributed to the presence of polyphenolic compounds. 1
Another study performed in Canada also revealed similar results which further stated that dulse displayed a significant amount of antioxidant activity wherein it reduced the concentration of free radicals.2 Further, dulse is also considered as a potential source of proteins in the human diet.3 Numerous studies and trials are being performed to identify the other beneficial effects of pholephenols, proteins and other compounds present in dulse.
